After posting via social media that his brief tenure with Stallion Laguna FC has come to end, Philippine international goalkeeper Patrick Deyto has joined Suphanburi FC as one of the club’s latest acquisitions for the second half of the season.
Initial details on the transfer have been provided by Stallion’s head coach Ernest Nierras last July 8, 2019. Further details point that the move is on a free transfer with a duration of stay until the remainder of the 2019 season, at the very least, with the possibility to extend for the 2020 campaign.
29-year-old Deyto joins compatriot Alvaro Silva who completed a move to the same club days before, while becoming the second active homegrown Filipino talent in Thai League 1 along with Chainat Hornbill defender Marco Casambre.
A product of De La Salle University’s football program under Coach Hans Smit, Patrick began his post-varsity football career with Pachanga Diliman before having stints with Filipino clubs such as Green Archers United, Global Cebu, Davao Aguilas, and Stallion Laguna.
His exploits between the posts made him one of the top keepers in the Philippines in which he earned caps for the senior national squad for several high profile competitions with the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup as his last participation before undergoing a corrective surgery for an injured finger.
Deyto also has an experience playing in the AFC Cup and AFC Champions League qualification campaigns in multiple seasons, being the first choice custodian for his then former club, Global.
Considered a high probability to be the starting keeper under Head Coach Adebayo, Patrick Deyto will have quite a task to fulfill as he helps his new club, which is currently in the midst of a relegation battle, remain in Thailand’s topflight.
Suphanburi will next face Sukhothai, which has Filipino winger Iain Ramsay in its ranks, on Sunday July 14, 2019.
