All systems go for PFF Women’s League 2019 season

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) continues in its commitment to develop women’s football in the country with the third season of the PFF Women’s League that is set to begin this Saturday, July 27, 2019.

During a pre-tournament media presser held in the PFF House of Football in Pasig City on midday of Thursday, July 25, the 2019 season was confirmed with 10 teams vying to win the title and unseat the defending champions De La Salle University (DLSU).

Represented teams during the event were Stallion Hiraya FC, DLSU, Tuloy FC, Far Eastern University (FEU) and Youth Football League champions Nomads FC which will debut this 2019 edition.

Other participating squads are University of the Philippines (UP), University of Santo Tomas (UST), and Green Archers United which have been a part of the previous edition while Maroons FC and Tigers FC join Nomads as debutants this year.

The tournament will feature a two round-robin league format in which the the team that garners the most points in the standings will be crowned as champion.

“(The champion will receive) gold medals and a trophy,” said PFF Secretary General, Attorney Edwin Gastanes, in an interview.

“Depending on our resources at the end of the tournament, we’ll see if we can give cash prizes to the first placers of the league.”

The venues that will host the the league are the PFF Training Center in Carmona, DLSU Canlubang, Ateneo de Manila and UP-Diliman.

The PFF Women’s League is organized by the Philippine Football Federation with the help of FIFA.
