SINGA CUP: PH clubs Makati FC, Futbol Funatics book Quarter-Finals berths

After their respective strong showings in the group stage qualifiers, Philippine-based clubs Makati FC (U14), and Futbol Funatics (U16) reach the quarter-finals stage of the on-going Singa Cup 2019.

Makati FC‘s primary team proved their dominance in their five-team group conceding only one goal and registering a whopping +24 goal difference towards a perfect slate of four wins out of four matches to secure their tickets to the quarter-final knockouts in very convincing fashion.

A considerable part of Makati FC’s solid showing in the preliminaries can be attributed to the stellar performance of Indonesian Aaron Yekti who hauled an amazing 16 goals to put himself as undisputed top-scorer at the moment in the U14 division.

A second Makati FC team, named Makati FC 2006, are still in contention – as of this writing – to progress to the quarters after finishing second in Group D setting up an interesting playoff match with fellow Philippine-based outfit Great Oak Manor FC which also placed second in Group E.

Also securing a slot for a qualifiers spot to the “Last Eight” in the U14 division is Kaya FC Academy, after finishing second in Group B via goal difference.

Meanwhile, in the U16 category, Futbol Funatics – FFAST finish runners-up in Group D to set up a quarterfinals clash with the winners of Group C.

Out of Futbol Funatics’ total haul of five goals in the group stage, two were scored by Stephen Soria who currently leads the goalscoring tally for his club.

In the U12 division, Kaya FC Academy and PAREF Southridge were halted in their quests to progress out of the group stage, ending the Philippine-based clubs’ participation in the specific Singa Cup 2019 age-group.

Unlike the U8 and U10 divisions of Singa Cup which are seven-aside, the U12, U14 and U16 divisions are in eleven-aside format.

The qualifiers and quarterfinals begin on November 6.
